Troop 714 has begun our 2012 Friends of Scouting drive in support of Atlanta Area Council Scouting (including Foothills District and Troop 714). As the Council’s primary source of funding, Friends of Scouting provides more than a third of the money needed to operate Scouting in our area for each calendar year. Our goal is to get 100% return of the Friends of Scouting Pledge Card – 2012, whatever the amount, even if you are not able to contribute anything financially at this time. A primary measure for other organizations funding Scouting is the return rate of these pledge cards, regardless of the amount pledged, so even a $0 pledge card returned helps out!
Our unit’s participation plays a vital role in ensuring that a premier Scouting program is available for the many thousands of youth and adult volunteers that are part of the Atlanta Area Council. You may not realize it, but Friends of Scouting helps secure the funds needed to support our unit programs such as training, insurance, program materials, advancement materials, camping facilities and programs, council and district activities, and much more.
