Nine Cub Scout and
Boy Scout members of local packs and troops received their religious awards
in a January 2001 ceremony at Christ United Methodist Church.
Scouts earning their Religious Award also receive the religious emblem
(Square Knot) that they can wear on their Scout Uniform at a
subsequent Court of Honor or Pack Meeting.
"A Scout is reverent." All Scouts show this by
being faithful in their duty to God. Some go further and give special
service. This can qualify them for a religious emblem. Such an emblem is
not a Scouting award. It is conferred on a Scout by his religious leader.
Each faith has its own requirements for earning its emblem. Check with
your religious leader for more information. Information on many
denomination's religious award
requirements are also available at the local Scout Shop. You can find
additional information on religious awards at the
MeritBadge.com
site. The official BSA information on the religious emblem program is
available at the www.bsa.scouting.org
