How to get ready for fall backpacking fun?

You’ve heard tales of the fun Scouts have when backpacking, away from the road and seeing sights you can’t see from a car, of adventures at Philmont, and tales of sunsets and waterfalls in the North Georgia mountains. How do you (Scout or adult) prepare to join in this great fun?
Flyer: Backpacking Prep Meetings (Mon. 9/17 and Sun. 9/23)

For adults – Monday, September 17th, after announcements, several experienced adults will help guide you in understanding what’s needed (and what’s not!) for the fall Backpacking Checkout at Pine Mtn State Park. We’ll have actual gear and discussions of what/where/how to help you and your son prepare.

For Scouts – Sunday, September 23rd, 3pm, at the Einertson’s home – Think of this workshop as a fun “Show and Tell” led by older scouts for other scouts! Your scout will see how to prepare for great fun backpacking on the Pine Mtn Trail and beyond. Hands on, gear, stories, food, Scout-to-Scout.
